Reception hall "Giovanni dalle Bande Nere"

The decoration of the reception hall is punctuated by a painted polychrome architectural structure supported by two caryatids on each side of the six doors to the side rooms. The artificial constructions contain four large panels, where four battle scenes from the history of Giovanni dè Medici are painted. These scenes depict some of the many military campaigns promoted by the commander.

Above each of the six doors, within circular medallions, supported by a pair of winged female figures with phytomorphic tail ends, are the half busts of six Roman emperors, who can be recognized from the names inscribed under each of them: Julius Caesar, Octavian Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius and Nero. The busts, presented in profile and in three quarter profile, evoke typical early Renaissance portraits and are copies of originals from the series of plates engraved in 1606 by Raffaello Schiaminossi in volume XII Caesarum Qui Primi Rom. Imperanrunt effigies.

The reception hall is the room in which the guests are welcomed and where they can socialize.
